Fall Bike Repair Class for Women by Women

TUESDAYS IN NOVEMBER: 7th, 14th and 21st.

Join Wendy Byrne and Carrie Burkholder, two local bicycle enthusiasts with years of professional wrenching experience. They're bicycle commuters, mountain bikers, road cyclists, and have toured by bike - they want to share their knowledge to get you more comfortable taking care of and riding your bike and getting as much enjoyment out of it as possible!

This is a series of three classes with a limit of six (6) participants per class. Participants are expected to attend each class. Must be 18 years or older to participate.

2 hours each class. Held weekly from 6-8 pm

7 November: Safety, Education & Tools

Bikes not necessary, but you're encouraged to bring them.

  • Introductions: students and bicycles
  • Basics of bicycle safety
  • Bicycle inspection & safety check
  • Review of tools that are helpful in bike maintenance

14 November: Maintenance: Wheels & Flats

Bring your bike to class

  • Wheel removal and installation
  • Fixing flats - always more complicated than it seems!

21 November: Brakes, Gears & More

Bring your bike to class. Review of wheel removal/installation and flat repair (as needed)

Additional maintenance

  • Chain cleaning and lubrication
  • Shifting system cleaning and lubrication
  • Cleaning – what to do/what not to do
  • Brake pad replacement
  • Gear adjustment
